Cathay Pacific The Bridge Business Class Lounge, Hong Kong International Airport (HKG)
Cathay Pacific’s lounges in Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) make connecting in Hong Kong as close to a delight as can be said about waiting for a flight. Over the past 5 years I’ve spent a lot of quality time in airport lounges and I still look forward to landing in Hong Kong and heading to a Cathay Pacific lounge. The consistency and quality of both their business class and first class lounges means that I can depend on a nice warm meal and a hot shower to have me feeling refreshed before catching my next flight.
Cathay Pacific’s lounges in Hong Kong have an uncommon elegance about them for an airline lounge. It seems as though nearly every element in their lounges has been considered. From the brightness and color of the lighting, to the materials used in its construction, each element works together to evoke a feeling of quiet luxury that is congruent with what I expect from premium cabin travel.
I know that last paragraph probably made me sound like I work on their marketing team but that’s not the case. They just do lounges really damn well. For as much time as I end up spending in airport lounges, I really appreciate all the thought and effort that goes into a well designed lounge.

As far as Cathay Pacific business class lounges in Hong Kong go, The Bridge is top notch. I find that The Wing feels a little bit too austere for me, though I like the noodle bar, and that The Cabin can get really crowded, so much so that it was hard to even find a seat the last time that I visited. Every time I have visited The Bridge I have found it to be less than half full and I’ve always been able to get a shower room without waiting more than a couple of minutes.
Speaking of their shower rooms, I think Cathay does a great job with those as well. In the US, airline lounges often don’t provide showers and the ones that do often seem to think that they should look and feel like a locker room (I’m looking at you American Airlines!).
The rain head shower is a really nice way to rehydrate after a 16 hour flight.
They also provide all the necessary toiletries for getting yourself all freshened up after your shower. It’s this type of consistent thoughtfulness that I find to be the hallmark of Cathay Pacific’s lounges in Hong Kong.
For those of us unlucky enough to have to work immediately after getting off a very long flight The Bridge has a business center where you can find modern Imac computers and printers. Again they have done a cubicle farm well from a design perspective and half of the stations are set up for working from your own laptop.
To be honest, I find that the food at The Bridge is the weakest component of the lounge. It’s not that the food is bad, it’s just unremarkable and not very flavorful. The staff are very good and keep the tables clean and the dishes refreshed, but really after tasting all of the food options there wasn’t anything that I would want to come back for.
The actual space for dining is fine. Relatively comfortable and easy enough to navigate while towing around your carry-on bag.
In case you are just in the mood for snacks, coffee and alcohol, they have an additional espresso bar and small snack area with a few bottles of wine.
In general, I am a big fan of Cathay Pacific’s lounges in Hong Kong and The Bridge exemplifies everything that they do so well. A really comfortable and well designed space, ample room for visitors and all the amenities that you would want to get freshened up for your next flight.
