A Surreal Floral Experience In Hokkaido
Babies! I’ve spent the last year bouncing around the globe shooting videos for the site and I’m really excited to finally be able to start sharing them with you!
This first video is from an incredible and surreal adventure I had in Hokkaido, Japan this last May. While researching an upcoming Spring trip to Japan I came across a picture of these mountains covered in flowers and I just couldn’t believe they were real. I had to see it for myself, so I planned a trip to experience Shibazakura in Japan first hand.

Higashimokoto Shibazakura Park
The video is from the Higashimokoto Shibazakura Park, which is located near the town of Abashiri in Hokkaido Japan. Seeing these two hills completely blanketed in pink, purple and white flowers was a completely surreal experience.
With a good amount of planning and a bit of luck I had managed to arrive right at peak bloom and the sight was nearly unbelievable. All these flowers are real and the blooms last only a week or two, so I was extremely fortunate to be there when the flowers were at their peak.
Getting there turned out to be quite the challenge as navigating rural Japan without being fluent in Japanese can be daunting. This made me realize that many of you might want to see this amazing place as well but probably don’t want to master Japanese before coming.
